London based artist Anne-Marie Foster combines drawing, printmaking, collage, montage, digital manipulation and ready made printed matter for her works on paper.

Starting points are botanical diagrams and photographs, biological micro-photography, cartographic notation, puzzle layouts. These are sourced in developing visual metaphors that refer to analogous aspects of botany and biology exploring the concepts of grouping: individualisms within; differences and similarity; replication and mirroring.

Her bias towards utilising grid structures and working in series allows for exploration and development of an idea without discarding initial successes, this also facilitates the assemblage of several small units to form a bigger picture.
